Happy Doll Project 2013

Happy Dolls, the only messenger in the world, traveled to hospitals throughout Japan, the quake hit places and foreign countries for eight years on the ship named Happy Doll Project which carry everyone’s dream and wishes.

 

I was reminded that the beginning was the HARUMI Doll Project ten years ago. It was a project which I started after wishing that my friend Harumi, who was fighting disease, would revive her desire to live. It was a dream of mine to decorate one huge Christmas tree with her dolls and those made by the patients of the department of psychiatry, to whom we provided work therapy every month. I hoped that the display of this tree would strengthen the confidence of those patients who were suffering.

 

On the other hand, I look back with a bit of embarrassment because I was eager to complete this project, despite the time limit of my friend’s life.

 

All those smiles of Happy Dolls, who seem to be saying “Hey, I’m here!” and the happy faces of my friend and patients still live in my heart as a treasure which sings hymns.

 

With this experience ten years ago as a starting point, Happy Dolls and people are connected with smiles and continue to share the joy of living. I’m truly happy for that.

And I’m looking forward to see Happy Spiral continue to expand.
