Happy Doll Project 2009
At what occasions do people feel the pleasure of living?
For example, you are sick and your remaining days are countable.
At such a time when you wake up in the morning and someone that you love is in front of you smiling, you might feel the happiest.
The Happy Doll project aims to link the hearts of people who are facing the most basic stages in people’s lives, such as birth, aging, sickness and death. Happy Dolls, tiny fabric dolls which were freely made by the patients, their families, hospital staff, etc., get displayed together with the other Happy Dolls which were made at the other hospitals.
By doing this, patients are reminded by the number of Happy Dolls that there are many other people throughout Japan who are facing disease and injury just like themselves.
I’m not the only one!
Just to know that, it could be powerful for patients to face their disease.
This way, Happy Dolls which patients made bring smiles to people linking them at the same time. Thus, the number of Happy Dolls continued to increase, strengthening their happy people at the same time.
There are hundreds of Happy Dolls, but every one of them is the only one in the whole world.
Everyone is different, and everyone is attractive in their own way.
We human beings are also all different, and each one of us has his or her own charm. It reminded me that each one of us is different from other people.
Each Happy Doll encourages the people who look at them and make them smile at the same time.
Although they were made in closed places like hospital, some make us relax with a sense of humor, embracing us with their warmth. Wherever the Happy Dolls were made, there were lots of smile. And at those places, we met people like mothers who were cheerfully encouraging their children, small children who were facing their disease the best they could, aged people who were trying to regain their physical ability, and the nurses who warmly support these people. These people reminded us how wonderful people are. And we also felt how awesome life is.
Through the past years, I experienced many encounters and departures, and I myself received many smiles and discovered lots of things. I feel very happy for that. It’s been four years since the Happy Doll project started. And ever since its start, I’ve been received much support, for which I feel truly grateful.
Also, I’m very happy to announce that the second Happy Doll book is now ready. I truly wish that this tiny book will send smiles and the energy to live.
Cheer up, everyone!
