Happiness that you feel when you have completed a Happy Doll.

Sense of satisfaction which warms you up.

And at times, they make you cry, leading to even bigger sensation.

 

A male patient who suffers with residual symptoms of a brain infarct such as disorder of nerves, muscles, and speech, had given up that he would no longer be able to do anything with his own hands.

 

We invited him to make Happy Doll together as his rehabilitation. He unwillingly agreed.

Then we held his hand, cut the cloth, stapled them, put cotton inside…

 

Little by little, very slowly, one step at a time…

First his hands were stiff, but gradually power came back to his hands, and at last, I was only putting my hands near his hands that were actually making it.

 

“Wow! You could do it! Isn’t it great?” said his wife.

At this reaction, the patient started crying.

 

I made it! I could make it!

This small step made him believe in further potential.

It was one step which meant a lot to him.
