Happy Doll Project 2012

​

It has been seven years since I started traveling with Happy Dolls which carry everyone’s wish.

I can’t even remember how many children and adults I’ve met so far, with whom we made something, laughed, cried, and connected with each other. I remember them all with warm memories and passion.

People’s creativity is endless. And my history with Happy Doll, which made us believe in the potential that people have, has become a very precious and important asset in my heart.

 

Again this year, I’ve met a number of lovely artists in hospitals and temporary housing, but above all, I can’t forget one boy that I met in one of those hospitals. This boy had his whole body burned, and his fingers were melted into one lump, yet he didn’t give up on making something and finally completed his work stapling here and there!

His face was looking down at first, but after he finished his art piece, one eye of his which showed through a gap in the bandage was shining with joy.

And this boy expressed his feeling of joy, pounding my hand with his now massive hand.

Whatever the situation is, people have the power to make something out of nothing!

This boy again reminded me of this power that people have.

 

Each Happy Doll is cute, funny, etc., and unique. But when these small Happy Dolls gather, they play a very bright and yet somewhat sad symphony. They encourage the patients whose disease reoccur and whose hearts are about to give in. These dolls push the doctors to do even more than their best. They moved the people in the disaster area and softened the children’s hearts at the same time. Happy Dolls made the people who created them happy, made their supporters happy, and those who look at them happy.

 

I hope people who get this book also become happy.
