Happy Art Projectはホスピタルアーティストの高橋雅子が取り組むアートプロジェクト。難病や障がいと生きる人々のもとへ、アートを通じた自己表現とコミュニケーションの時間をはこびます。

With Happy Art Project, we present the tool of Art to those who have severe physical or mental disabilities, as a way to express themselves and/or communicate with others. The photos which are displayed at this exhibition were taken at National Mie Hospital, Fukushima National Hospital, National Hospital Organization Miyagi National Hospital and Tokyo Children Ryoiku Hospital.

PROFILE

高橋雅子／ホスピタルアーティスト

医師である祖父や親戚の仕事を見ながら育つ。アートを学ぶためアメリカへ渡り、米国州立Western Michigan University芸術学部卒。アメリカ現代美術のギャラリーを経て、美術館Petit Museeのシニアキュレーターに。美術展覧会の企画やワークショップ、美術館運営に携る。1999年にWonder Art Production、2004年にHospital Art Labを設立。展覧会オーガナイザーとして世界のアートを紹介するほか、美術館や博物館における子どもの情操教育プログラム、医療現場や地域社会をステージにしたさまざまなアートプロジェクトをプロデュースし、現場でのナビゲーターもつとめる。

アートによる療養環境の改革を目指すホスピタルアートに取り組み、全国の病院でアートプロジェクトを展開。法政大学でのホスピタルアート講義、医学書院『病院』での連載ほか、医療現場におけるアートの可能性を各所で発表。実施病院は100病院を超え、長野県立こども病院ではICU病棟のホスピタルアートの総合プロデュースを手掛けた。代表的プロジェクトである“Happy Doll Project”で「2013年度子どもたちのこころを育む活動優秀賞」受賞（公益財団法人パナソニック教育財団）。東日本大震災直後は緊急支援チームを立ち上げ、避難所や仮設住宅、子どもの施設への訪問を開始。中学・高校時代を過ごした仙台を拠点に、岩手・宮城・福島・熊本で1000日を超える活動を記録。病院や障がい児者施設、被災地など、命と心に関わる現場で生きる力につながるアート活動に一貫して力を注ぐ。2016年にボーダレスなアートスタジオ『ワンダーアートスタジオ』を仙台に開設。

Born and grew in a family comes from a long line of doctors includes grandfather.Masako Takahashi was born and raised in a family who has several doctors including her grandfather.

Graduated from the College of Fine Art, Western Michigan University.　 Upon returning to Japan, worked for galleries of American contemporary art, and became Senior Curator at Petit Musee. Since then, curated a number of exhibitions and workshops, and also participated in management of museums.

Established Wonder Art Production in 1999 and Hospital Art Lab in 2004. Organized the various exhibitions showing creative art from the world. The first one was “Art in Paradise.” introducing the works with human touch by 38 self‐taught artists in the U.S. who live in “paradise” of the world of expression, without being constrained by the established materials or techniques, and other exhibitions introducing the art works of Africa, Amazon, Poland, etc. are followed. Started producing and navigating many art programs for the children in museums, hospitals, and society.

Ever since the kick-off of Wonder Art Production, started the original project “Hospital Art” trying to improve the medical treatment environment by art, and conducted a number of art-related projects at hospitals at over 100 hospitals throughout Japan. Conducted lectures on social contribution with art at Hosei University, published a series of articles on hospital art in medical magazine over a year and a half, and presented about potentiality which art could give to medical environments. Produced the overall hospital art at the ICU ward in Nagano Children’s Hospital. Awarded the "Activities Excellence Award; Projects to Nurture Children’s Heart” with “Happy Doll Project,” the representative project, by Panasonic Educational Foundation in 2013.

Soon after the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, organized the Emergency Support team "ARTS for HOPE" and started visiting the evacuation centers, temporary housings and children’s facilities. The activities have reached more than 1000 days, visiting the disaster areas in Iwate, Miyagi, Fukushima and Kumamoto. In 2016, opened “Wonder Art Studio”, a borderless art studio, in Sendai, Miyagi.
